Road trip: Day 12

We did our member update presentation this morning.  The presentation was low pressure and we let them know we've been very happy with the timeshare we already own through them.   They provided a buffet breakfast which had way too much to choose from and I think I can speak for all of us when I say that we ate too much.

After the presentation, we headed back to Loreto to pick up our laundry.  We got there and the sign said they are open Monday to Saturday and today is Sunday. No bueno.  The guy at the business next store said she was just out and would be back in an hour.  We figured we would walk around town and check things out.  For reasons beyond the female brain, dad and Brett wanted to check out the grocery store.  Seriously.  Just walk through the grocery store.

As we were leaving the grocery store, they decided to get ice cream.    I don't know how they could eat after that huge breakfast.

We then headed downtown and wandered the streets.  Loreto is a charming town.  The center of town had beautiful tree lined cobblestone streets with quaint shops.

Here's the Loreto mission which was completed in 1752.

We found a Thrifty Ice Cream store.  I remember going to Thrifty all the time as a kid.  The cones were 15 cents for a single and 30 cents for a double.  And yes, I know I just admitted we're getting old!  The cool thing was the flat scoops.  I had to check it out to see if it was the same here and it was!  The have definitely gone up in price, but the flavors offered were the same and the used the round flat scooper.  Dad got a cone just for the sake of nostalgia.  Yes, more ice cream!

We were looking in an art store when we realized we had completely forgotten to go back and get our laundry.  Hoping she hadn't closed for the day, we left my folks there and made a mad dash to the lavenderia.  Luckily, she was still there.

While roaming the streets some more, we came across a restaurant selling clams.  Brett was the only one of the four of us that had ever eaten clams.  They gave us smoked clams to try and then we tried some grilled ones.  They were delicious!  Next thing you know, we sat down and had a feast of clams.

How could you not try clams from this guy?

We met Pam from Puerto Vallarta who was in town on the cruise ship.  She was a total hoot and was traveling by herself so we made her join our little party.

When we got back to the resort, we finished off the night by playing cards.
