Happy Thanksgiving!
This morning we got up and went to Bernie and Kim's new house. They purchased 20 acres earlier this year and are building a new home. Kimberly showed up the house in progress. It's coming along nicely and they are going to love that wrap around porch when it's finished. Gorgeous views! Bernie then took us on a tour of the property and showed us the beginnings of their little ranchero - including the cows and a new baby calf born just last week. He also showed us the cemetery on his property. Bernie is a big time Civil War buff so having found a grave of a Confederate soldier on his property was an exciting find for him.
After seeing their place, we drove into town (Navasota, TX) to have brunch with Kimberly's employer. We had to get on the road so only stayed a short while.
We left Navasota at 1:00 and drove to Austin for Thanksgiving dinner. In Austin, we met our friend, Anthony, and his wife and boys at Texas Land & Cattle. We met Anthony 7 years ago while living in Cabo. He and his grandma lived in the same trailer park as us and left Mexico just a few months after we did. He has since married and we got to meet his beautiful wife Jessica. Jessica had two boys Leland and Brad and they have also since adopted Denver who is 17 and are in the process of adopting John who is 15. It was great to be able to see Anthony again and to meet his growing family! He is a blessing to so many and we are proud to call him our friend. After dinner, we called his grandma and had a chance to chat and catch up with her as well. We spent a lot of time with both of them while we were in Cabo and it was so good to catch up.
After dinner, it was time to hit the road once more and we drove to Fort Station, TX where we finally decided to call it a night. One more long driving tomorrow and we will have made up all the time we lost from leaving late.
