These are the amenities that we got to enjoy this morning. Now this is camping!
We hung out here on the beach until about noon and then headed to Cabo to see if we could get an early check in. On the drive, Brett told me to keep an eye on the water to see if I could see whales and at exactly that moment, I saw the blow of a whale! Woot woot! Our first whale of the trip!!
Cabo San Lucas is the southernmost tip of the Baja with the Sea of Cortez on the east and the Pacific Ocean on the west. We're staying at the Grand Solmar resort on the Pacific side and we can walk about a block to the Sea of Cortez. The resort is beautifully tied in to the landscape of Lands End. It's only 2 years old and they are still doing quite a bit of construction.
After getting unpacked, we spent some time at the pool and then headed out for a dinner of tacos 130 pesos ($10.40 US), then off to Walmart to get some groceries for the week.
Our friend, Norma, just opened a gaming center in the mall where Walmart is located so we stopped in there and visited for a bit. It's a place where kids can go and play games for 50 pesos an hour ($4 US). They only opened two weeks ago and there was quite a bit of foot traffic while we were there. They have a great location right near the entrance to Wal-Mart. It was great to see Norma and we wish her, Mark and the kids all the best in their new adventure.
