We met quite a few of the other campers as they walked the beach and welcomed us. Most of them are here for several months and are either from Canada or the northern states.
Views from our campsite.
We hung around the campground, walked the beach and chilled. Literally. It was beautiful this morning and some campers were even swimming, but the winds picked up and the temperature dropped around lunchtime. We spent a few hours in the tent reading and napping, keeping warm. Our neighbor, Robert, had offered us the use of his kayaks and we had planned to check out the bay this afternoon so were bummed with the change of weather.
Other neighbors, Bill and Leslie, had invited us to come over for happy hour at 4:00 so that got us up and moving. I put on long underwear, jeans, sweatshirt and scarf and brought my mug of hot cocoa to happy hour on the beach! Spent the next few hours visiting and then returned to our tent where we fired up the tent heater. Our quarters are a little tight in the tent so I'm not comfortable with letting it run while we're sleeping. I'm scared of a sleeping bag accidentally getting too close and catching on fire. Brett thinks I'm a worry wart but knows I won't sleep a wink with it on, so we'll let it get nice and toasty while we read and then turn it off and get snug in our bed.
The tent heater keeping us toasty!
We may come back here for Christmas. It's doubtful we'll find an open palapa at that time, but we've been invited to set up our tent on the beach in front of Bill and Leslie's trailer if there isn't one available. We'll play it by ear and watch the weather as well. If it's this cold here on Christmas, and if there's no palapa to block the wind, my vote says we splurge and get a hotel in town!
Nite all!
