Road trip: Day 11

We got up bright and early to head down the road to Loreto.

See  you later Bahia de Concepcion!

My parents flew in today for a week and we needed to get checked in early so we could unload the car and make room to pick them up.  We had another military checkpoint today but they didn't even ask up to stop, just waved us on and told us to have a nice day.  We got to the resort, which is about 40 minutes from town, in time to get settled into our room and enjoy a nice long shower before heading back towards the airport.

One of the indicators you're coming up on a military checkpoint!

Our room keys are pretty cool!  They are wristbands with an electronic sensor for your door.  I've never seen anything like that, but have to admit it's nice that you don't have to worry about carrying around your room key.

After picking up mom and dad at the airport, we went into downtown Loreto for dinner.  We also found a lavenderia and dropped off laundry that we'll pick up tomorrow.  We had dinner at a cute restaurant on a quaint cobblestone street.  Mom and dad had fish and shrimp tacos and Brett and I had enchiladas.

After dinner, we did some grocery shopping.  Since the resort is so far from town, there's really no place to eat except for the restaurants onsite which can get pricey.  We plan on eating the majority of our meals in our room.  With being gluten-free, we almost always stay at places with kitchens, so we're used to cooking on vacation and it doesn't bother us at all.  In fact, we find it more enjoyable for some meals.  For breakfast for example, it's nice to not have to get dressed and ready but rather eat breakfast while still in your pajamas.

When we got back to the resort, my parents wanted to see about upgrading to a larger room.  We had a studio with two queen beds as they weren't originally coming down with us.  The concierge advised if we go to the member update (ie. timeshare presentation) tomorrow morning, they would upgrade us to a 2 bedroom suite for 4 days.  Mom and dad agreed to pay to upgrade for the other three so we packed up from our studio unit and moved into a 2 bedroom.

It's chilly tonight so we ended the day by sitting in the hot tub.

Oh, one more thing!  They brought down our Christmas present.  A box of See's candy nuts and chews!   Felix Navidad!!

Our room for the next week.
